Celebrated on June 19th each year, Juneteenth is a time for reflection, education, and honoring the enduring spirit of resilience and hope. In this blog, we delve into the significance of Juneteenth, its historical roots, and its relevance in today’s society.

Understanding Juneteenth: Juneteenth traces its origins to June 19, 1865, when Union General Gordon Granger arrived in Galveston, Texas, and declared the end of slavery, more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation had been issued. The news of freedom had been deliberately withheld from enslaved African Americans in Texas, making Juneteenth a momentous occasion for them. The day signifies the long-overdue liberation and symbolizes the ongoing struggle for equality and justice.

Education and Awareness: Juneteenth serves as an opportunity for education and self-reflection. It calls upon individuals to expand their knowledge of African American history, culture, and contributions to society. By seeking out stories and narratives often left untold, we gain a more comprehensive understanding of our shared past and present. You Had Me At Mimosa!

When life gives you oranges, Make a Mimosa – ¡Feliz día nacional de la mimosa!

On May 16, the world will celebrate this delightful and refreshing cocktail that has become a brunch staple. Mimosas are typically served in champagne flutes, and any sort of sparkling wine can be substituted if champagned is not available. In 1925, head bartender Frank Meier created the mimosa at the Ritz Hotel in Paris. The mimosa bloom, a yellowish Australian plant popular with French gardeners, inspired the name of this famous drink.
